During the event, the High-Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence (AI HLEG), which is the AI Alliance’s steering group, presented two important milestones of its work:
- the Policy and Investment Recommendations on AI, addressed to the European Commission and Member States
- the Launch the piloting process of the AI Ethics Guidelines presented during the Digital Day 2019
The second part of the day allowed participants to take part in interactive workshops on the next steps of the European AI Strategy. The workshop discussions will serve as an input to future policy making.
The European AI Alliance
The European AI Alliance is a forum that engages more than 3000 European citizens and stakeholders in a dialogue on the future of AI in Europe.
Following the launch of a European AI Strategy in April 2018, the Commission established the High-Level Expert Group on AI (AI HLEG) and mandated it with the drafting of Ethics Guidelines for Artificial Intelligence and AI Policy and Investment Recommendations. The European AI Alliance was set up in parallel to the AI HLEG as broad multi-stakeholder forum that would, among others provide input from the different parts of society to the work of the AI HLEG and EU policy-making more generally.
After the presentation of the Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy AI in April 2019, the AI HLEG took into account the input received from the AI Alliance for the finalisation of its AI Policy and Investment Recommendations.
